Buenos días!

Durante las últimas semanas el cáncer del presidente Venezolano Chávez fue el foco de atención de la prensa venezolana e internacional. Chávez fue operado en Cuba y se recuperó allí durante un tiempo más. En julio regresó a tiempo a Venezuela para los festejos del bicentenario de la independencia. Anunció que se había encontrado un cáncer en su cuerpo, que su lucha en contra del cáncer no había terminado, que pero las perspectivas eran buenas. El ex-vice-presidente José Vicente Rangel, considerado cercano a Chávez y bien informado explicó que – al contrario a lo que habían reportado varios periódicos – no se trataba de cáncer de colón y que el tumor extraído no se había expandido. El 16 de julio Chávez, después de haber delegado algunas funciones al vice-presidente Elías Jaua y al ministro de finanzas Jorge Giordani, regresó a Cuba para seguir su tratamiento. Desde el punto de vista humano como también político le deseo a Chávez de ganar pronot su batalla en contra del cáncer. La situación actual muestra que tanto el proceso de transformación en Venezuela depende todavía de la persona de Chávez.

El libro sobre control obrero: "OURS TO MASTER AND CONTROL. Workers Councils from the Commune to the Present", que compilé junto a Immanuel Ness ha sido publicado por Haymarket Books (EEUU). Y ha encontrado un eco inesperado en los EEUU. Estamos muy contentos por eso. En octubre será publicado el volumen aleman por la editorial Neuer Isp Verlag.

Sabotaje a la versión en castellano

La versión en castellano iba a ser publicada a finales de 2011 en Argentina por Herramienta (que tambíen asumió las traducciones y la edición). Para eso también les había conseguido apoyos por un total de 3.000 Euros. Primero en abril Herramienta me hizo renegociar los tiempos con las dos fundaciones donantes de los 3.000 euros. Apenas había llegado a un acuerdo con las dos fundaciones que el libro se podía publicar en el primer trimestre de 2012, pero se tenía que facturar ahora y confirmar en una declaración que se iba a publicar en el primer trimestre de 2012, Herramienta me comunicó que lo habían repensado y que no lograban hacer el libro así que me mandaban los dos capítulos traducidos (no revisados) que habían logrado hacer en los últimos 9 meses (¡!).

Así que ahora los 3.000 Euros se perdieron. No hay la traducción del libro y tampoco una editorial.

En pocas palabras: Herramienta saboteó la publicación del libro y nos hizo perder 3.000 Euros de apoyos. Ni hablar de que la publicación en castellano ahora es totalmente incierta y quedé mal con las fundaciones que suelen apoyar también otros proyectos.

Si alguien nos puede apoyar con traducciones del inglés/portugués al castellano (por favor solo ofertas serias que cumplan con lo que dicen) o sabe alguna editorial que podría estar interesada, le agradecemos el apoyo (por favor escribir a dario@azzellini.net). Después de la pésima jugada de parte de Herramienta la publicación del libro depende de ustedes.

Dos buenos compañeros y amigos han muerto en junio.

Matteo Dean murió el sábado 11 de junio bajo circunstancias dudosas, arrollado por un camión en un puesto de cobro de la autopista México-Toluca en México.
Moe Hierlmeier murió de infarto el viernes 17 de junio.
Matteo Dean nació el 4 de marzo de 1975 en Trieste/Italia y vivía desde la segunda mitad de los 90s en México. Matteo trabajó para varios medios italianos y mexicanos (proceso, La Jornada, il manifesto y otros), trabajaba entre otros temas mucho sobre migración y movimientos sociales. Colaboraba con movimientos políticos en casi el mundo entero y en su barrio militaba en un proyecto de escuela autoorganizada. Nos conocimos a finales de los 1990s en Chiapas. En el 2007 vino por última vez a Alemania y fuimos juntos a las protestas en contra del G8 en Heiligendamm. Matteo siempre había sido muy solidario, dispuesto a ayudar y un compa al 120%. Desde aquí un abrazo para su esposa Sol Patricia, su familia, sus amig@y y compas.

Moe Hierlmeier tenía 52 años cuando murió, en su corazón estubo presente hasta lo último el fuego de la pasión por el cambio, tal y cual como cuando lo conocí hace más o menos 20 años. Y en ese entonces ya tenía unos 10 años de militancia. En los últimos 20 años hemos compartido discusiones, acciones y podios. Muchas veces ha sido descrito como “internacionalista radical” y marcó mucho al BUKO, una red y conferencia anual de grupos internacionalistas en Alemania. Al mismo tiempo siempre mantuvo su militancia de base local y durante los últimos años se dedicó a la construcción de la coordinación nacional Interventionistischen Linken (IL). Moe era solidario, de buen corazón y siempre listo para el debate. Y – probablemente por su procedencia del sur de Alemania – también tenía un fuerte interés culinario. Un abrazo para su esposa, su familia, amig@s y compas.

"Die alte Art der Politik verschluckt uns" und "Der andere Dialog"
Vorwort von Dario Azzellini und offener Brief an Hugo Chávez von Santiago Arconada

Santiago Arconada gehört zu den bekannteren Basisaktivisten der Linken in Venezuela und ist seit Jahrzehnten Teil des bolivarianischen Prozesses. Er ist radikaler Gewerkschafter gewesen und Dozent, Sozialforscher und Autor, Berater des Umweltministeriums und der Wasserwerke (Hidroven). Arconada ist einer der zentralen Aktivisten im Aufbau einer partizipativen Wasserverwaltung gewesen und hat dafür bereits Anfang der 1990er Jahre mit der damaligen Stadtverwaltung des linken Bürgermeisters Aristóbulo Isturriz in Caracas Stadt zusammen gearbeitet. Die Besorgnis und Kritik, die er in seinem offenen Brief an Chávez ausdrückt, ist Teil einer breiten und öffentlichen Kritik, die im Verlauf der vergangenen zwei Jahre und vor allem der letzten Monate, immer stärker aus Basisorganisationen, Bewegungen und Gewerkschaften, von Einzelpersonen und auch der Kommunistischen Partei Venezuelas am aktuellen Kurs des bolivarianischen Transformationsprozesses geäußert wird. Kaum einer der Kritiker und Kritikerinnen stellt sich dabei außerhalb des Transformationsprozesses, fast alle begreifen sich als aktiver Teil davon. Einige der von Arconada angesprochenen Punkte sind von einer Komplexität, die eine einfache Erläuterung kaum zulassen. So ist die Kritik an der Extraktionsökonomie sicher richtig und vor allem im Norden der Welt gerne gehört. Doch das Dilemma ist riesig, denn ohne das Geld aus der Ausbeutung der Naturressourcen in Venezuela, Bolivien und Ecuador könnten die Regierung die Bedürfnisse der Bevölkerung nicht zufriedenstellen und würden auch keine weiteren Wahlen mehr gewinnen…..

861 - Militarization in the politics and conflicts of resources in Latin America

The number of armed conflicts grows in the whole world. In Latin America and the Caribbean this trend appears in a extend militarization of policy. In the past eight years there were more military coups than in the last two decades. The military influence of the United States becomes a new institutional and strategic quality after the end of Block Confrontation and after the September 11 that demonstrates the inclusion of the Latin American armed forces into the new Continental Doctrine of the US-Army. This expresses in the chance of military doctrines and security politics in Latin America, which show in new relation between militarization, conflicts of resources, social protests, the war of drugs and the internal citizen security. Moreover an amalgamation between the different security institutions of State like police, armed forces and intelligence service happens. Further there is a privatization of military. At the symposia we want to analyze on the basis of case studies the form of militarization of politics in Latin America, the development of military doctrine of the US-forces to Latin America, the results of privatization of military and also the conflicts of interests between the US-Doctrine and some militaries and military forces in Latin America.

“Vamos a decidir nosotros qué es lo que queremos. Nosotros somos los que sabemos las necesidades, qué es lo que pasa en nuestra comunidad”, explica Omayra Peréz con firmeza. En los barrios de los montes de Caracas, ella quiere convencer a su comunidad para que, juntos, formen un consejo comunal. Las y los habitantes de Venezuela deciden, de manera colectiva, en las asambleas de los más de 30.000 consejos comunales, sobre muchos asuntos de su comunidad. Omayra tiene el apoyo de las y los activistas de una comunidad cercana, la “Emiliano Hernández”, que desde hace ya tres años se auto-organiza en un consejo comunal. Hay un sinnúmero de iniciativas que tienen su origen en esta organización: así, lograron que viniera un médico del programa gubernamental “Barrio Adentro” para que, en adelante, le preste asistencia gratuita a la gente de esa comunidad; también consiguieron financiamiento para arreglar sus casas y reemplazar una docena de ranchos de lámina y cartón por casas nuevas. Desde abajo, la comunidad se ha autoorganizado en variadas comisiones de trabajo, con temáticas que ella misma define y tomando sus decisiones en asambleas.

In July of 2001 hundreds of men and women from every part of the world and belonging to very different political cultures marched in the streets of Genova, where the annual G8 summit was to be held. They were united in saying “no” to the paradigm of neoliberal globalization which was at its peak at the time. They pointed out to the deficit of democratic participation to this process, along with the economical inequalities and the environmental devastation connected to it and they proclaimed the necessity and the possibility of a radically different world. In the course of the decade that followed, those same protest movements have faced, especially in Italy, moments of retreat. Despite the serious economic crisis we are facing, the threat imposed by global warming, the increasing scarsity of natural resources, the increasingly accentuated social inequalities, the ever more dramatic distance between those who are represented and those who represent in a liberal democratic context, the arguments of the “people of Genova” seem to be more relevant than ever and, in a certain sense, even prophetical.
