EndlichI Im Juli erscheint das lang angekündigte Buch, das der großartige Genosse Marcelo Vieta und ich gemeinsam verfasst haben zu Rückeroberten Betrieben, Arbeit als Commoning und Rätedemokratie international:
"Commoning Labour and Democracy at Work: When Workers Take Over"Routledge, 290 Pages, July 14, 2025 (eine günstigere Soft-Cover-Ausgabe wird folgen)
Als wir mit dem Schreiben des Buches fertig waren, umfasste es über 500 Seiten und schloss Kommunen und direkte Selbstverwaltung mit ein. Wir glauben, dass die direkte Selbstverwaltung, die politisch-administrative Kontrolle, mit der Kontrolle der Produktionsmittel einhergehen muss. Am Ende haben wir uns entschieden, zwei Bücher zu veröffentlichen. Es wird also bald ein weiteres Buch zum Thema Kommunen und Selbstverwaltung folgen …

Commoning Labour and Democracy at Work: When Workers Take Over
Routledge, 290 Pages, July 14, 2025 (a more affordable paperback will follow later)
This book investigates the return of workers’ self-management in recent decades as responses to recurring neoliberal crises. In particular, the book homes in on worker-recuperated enterprises (WREs), a promising form of workers’ self-organization whereby workers restart troubled, bankrupt, or shuttered companies as cooperatives or other forms of democratic workplace.
The book argues that WREs are prefigurative of new forms of work based on equality and sustainability. Framed by the concepts of autogestión, the labour commons, and prefigurative ethico-political practices, the book argues that WREs contribute to the construction of more directly democratic community economies. Drawing on a range of contemporary case studies from numerous countries in the Global South and North, as well as new theories of workers’ self-management, the book contributes a critical development, political economic, and class-struggle Marxist perspective to the re-emergent labour question within anti-systemic social movements, while theorizing the transformative nature of WREs for workers, work organizations, and communities.

Ideas and practices of communal self-administration are widespread in Latin America, especially among indigenous and Afro-American communities, stemming from ancestral customs. Commune-like self- administration predates the Paris Commune and has surfaced repeatedly throughout history. It was present in the wars of independence, in peasant uprisings, in revolts and revolutions in the early 20th century and in the struggles of its second half. AT: Du dokumentierst in deiner Arbeit rückeroberte Betriebe in Europa und Lateinamerika. Ist das so bewusst geographisch gewählt, oder gibt es in den anderen Teilen der Welt weniger Beispiele?
DA: Nein, es gibt tatsächlich überall Beispiele auf der Welt. Ich wähle nur nach Sprachen, die ich gut beherrsche. Ich kann leider kein Chinesisch und von daher ist es echt schwer, da was rauszufinden. Was wir wissen, ist, dass es auch dort Betriebsbesetzungen um die 2000er Wende gab, als die große Privatisierungswelle war. Dabei haben auch einige besetzte Betriebe durchgesetzt, Genossenschaften zu werden....

Arbeiterinnen und Arbeiter erobern ihre Betriebe zurück und öffnen Wege zu einer nichtkapitalistischen Produktion. SoZ Nr.9, 2024
"Laut Insolvenzstatistik des Statistischen Bundesamts wurden im vergangenen Jahr 2023 in Deutschland rund 176000 Unternehmen geschlossen. Davon haben 11 Prozent Insolvenz angemeldet. Immer wieder wird berichtet, dass Firmen trotz voller Auftragsbücher Insolvenz anmelden. Entweder stimmt die Gewinnmarge nicht, oder das Geld soll woanders lukrativer angelegt werden. Die Beschäftigten müssen schauen, wo sie bleiben. Manchmal bleiben sie dort, wo sie waren: In ihren Betrieben, die sie weiterführen wollen. Dario Azzellini nennt diesen Prozess, in Anlehnung an den berühmten Marxschen Begriff »Wiederaneignung«, Rückeroberung der Betriebe unter Arbeiter:innenkontrolle. Auf einer Veranstaltung in Köln im Mai dieses Jahres stellte er dies an Beispielen von Betrieben in Europa und Lateinamerika dar...."

4. Labour Transfer School: Verbindungen zwischen Forschung und Arbeitsaktivismus herstellen
Buggerru, Sardinien, Italien, 8. bis 13. Juni 2025
Wie jedes Jahr werde ich mit vielen wunderbaren Menschen in Buggerru sein. Dieses Jahr sind keine Plätze mehr verfügbar. Wer die LTS noch nicht kennt, sollte sich die Website anschauen. Vielleicht besteht ja Interesse an einer Teilnahme im Jahr 2026.
Die Labour Transfer School (LabourTransfer) ist eine unabhängige, gemeinnützige, internationale Initiative globaler Arbeitswissenschaftler:innen, die an Kooperationen, Synergien und Wissensaustausch zwischen Wissenschaft und sozialen Organisationen interessiert sind und darauf abzielen, emanzipatorisches Wissen über Arbeits- und Sozialfragen zu produzieren. LabourTransfer gibt den Teilnehmer:innen die Möglichkeit, ihre Forschungsinteressen mit Akademiker:innen, Arbeitsaktivist:innen, Künstler:innen, Journalist:innen und Gewerkschafter:innen aus der ganzen Welt auszutauschen. LabourTransfer ist keine traditionelle akademische Sommerschule oder ein Ausbildungszentrum für Gewerkschafter:innne, sondern ein Netzwerkplatz für Arbeitsaktivismus und soziale Gerechtigkeit.
