Intento de golpe en Venezuela el 30 de abril. Unas pocas horas y el espectáculo terminó ... Leopoldo López, quien se suponía que debía movilizar a las masas, se fue a la embajada chilena con su familia y luego se trasladó a la embajada española como "invitado "... el autoproclamado presidente Guaidó se fue escondiendo y 25 soldados terminaron en la embajada de Brasil (sí, este es el equilibrio de poder, mientras que los medios internacionales alucinan sobre la ruptura en el cuerpo militar y cómo estos se alzarán en contra del gobierno en cualquier momento). Guaidó y Leopoldo López aparecieron temprano en la mañana frente a una base militar (La Carlota) con algunos soldados (y probablemente mercenarios extranjeros - Al menos uno tenía un tatuaje visible en el cuello, que está prohibido en el ejército venezolano, por lo que no puede haber sido un soldado venezolano como se anunció).

López y Guiadog pretendieron que "sus fuerzas" habían tomado la base militar. Pero, de hecho, solo estaban parados en un puente con algunos soldados y ametralladoras (que se usaron en contra de la Guardia Nacional y la base militar ... y a las que las fuerzas respondieron con gases lacrimógenos). Como Guaidó no es Bruce Willis, el golpe fracasó. El gobierno de los EE. UU., que había autorizado y co-organizado el golpe, difundió un montón de noticias falsas. Bolton anunció que el jefe del ejército, el fiscal general y otros chavistas de alto rango se habían declarado deacuerdo en desconocer al gobierno de Maduro, y continuaron declarando que la situación era "incierta" cuando el golpe ya había fracasado estrepitosamente desde hace tiempo. Luego Bolton dijo que había fracasado porque los oficiales de alto rango y los miembros del gobierno que habían acordado apoyar el golpe "habían apagado sus teléfonos móviles". Esto puede parecer gracioso, pero en realidad fue un intento de golpe de Estado con los líderes de la oposición y el gobierno de Estados Unidos creyendo sus propias mentiras. También fue una maniobra para reforzar cierto liderazgo en la oposición, ya que no todos los opositore apoyan a la estragia de Guaidó y López. De hecho algunos los criticaron y muchos más se callaron (esperando de ver que pasa). El intento de golpe también sirvió para sacar a Guaidó de su situación problemática y argumentar que ya se intentó todo y que ahora se necesita una intervención militar... Así que: ¡alerta!

Si quieren saber porqué la oposición no logra tener mucho apoyo popular, lean eso, sólo uno de muchos ejemplos: 1 Mayo 2019 - Comuneros y comuneras de la parroquia Caricuao ubicada al suroeste de Caracas condenaron y rechazaron el que consideran un "vil saqueo" realizado por grupos opositores el día de ayer en la sede de la "Comuna Indio Caricuao" ubicada en el Bulevar de dicha parroquia en el sector de la UD2.

Algunos de sus miembros informaron que los agresores no se conformaron con saquearla pues le prendieron fuego y dañaron sus puertas principales.

"Occupy, Resist, Produce - Scop Ti"  / A film by Dario Azzellini and Oliver Ressler. 34 min. / English.

Scop Ti is located in the small town Gémenos near Marseille, in Southern France. The plant belonged to Lipton (Unilever) and produced herbal and fruit teas and the 120-year-old local French black tea brand Thé de l’Éléphant. In September 2010 Unilever decided to relocate production and machines to Poland, closed the plant and left 182 workers without their jobs. The workers immediately occupied their workplace, supported by the union CGT. Initially all 182 workers participated in the occupation; after three years 76 were still active. They demanded from Unilever to get the factory, the machines and the brand name Thé de l’Éléphant. They planned to build a cooperative, switch production to natural and organic herbal teas using mainly regional products.

Dario Azzellini: „Golpe en curso en Venezuela“ / El diario Internacional.com, 05.02.19  

En Venezuela hay un intento de golpe respaldado por Estados Unidos en pleno desarrollo. El 23 de enero, el político opositor hasta ahora desconocido, Juan Guaidó (que asumió sólo el 5 de enero de 2019 como presidente de la Asamblea Nacional declarada ilegal por el tribunal supremo de Venezuela) se autoproclamó presidente de Venezuela. Lo hizo alentado por el gobierno de los Estados Unidos. El golpe se preparó en conversaciones secretas en presencia de representantes del gobierno colombiano en los EEUU. La autoproclamación de Guaidó fue inmediatamente reconocida por los gobiernos de EEUU y Canadá. Los gobiernos de extrema derecha en Brasil y Colombia, así como el gobierno derechista de Argentina, no se tardaron mucho en reconocer también a Guaidó. Varios gobiernos de la UE, entre ellos Alemania, Francia y España, han prometido el apoyo de Guaidó y le pusieron un ultimátum al gobierno de Maduro para convocar a nuevas elecciones dentro de ocho días (el domingo 3 de febrero).

Can the Bolivarian revolution survive the Venezuelan crisis? / ROAR, April 11, 2019 / ROAR Collective

Creating the space for and allowing the Bolivarian Revolution to flourish is perhaps the most important achievement of Venezuela’s Chavista government — but can it survive the current crisis?

Dario Azzellini: „If by “Bolivarian revolution” we refer to the Venezuelan government, the response is not easy. We can affirm that it survived the political and economic crisis better and longer than all its enemies expected. Besides the drop in oil prices and the government’s own mistakes, one other cause of the current crisis is the international pressure on Venezuela, ranging from economic boycotts, financial sanctions and the illegal confiscation of billions of dollars deposited in international banks, to sabotage carried out by mercenaries and terrorist cells.“

Venezuela: „Es ist falsch, von Hilfslieferungen zu reden“ / 26.02.19 / Marx21

marx21: Im Moment spielt der Streit um Hilfslieferungen in der Berichterstattung die Hauptrolle. Es ist von Hunger die Rede, von fehlenden Medikamenten. Wie ist die Versorgungslage in Venezuela?

Dario Azzellini: Komplex. Es herrscht kein Hunger. Die Lage ist nicht so schlimm, wie sie oft dargestellt wird. Wer Geld hat, bekommt alles. Die Oberschicht und Menschen, die Zugang zu Devisen haben, können gut leben. Für einen Großteil der Bevölkerung gibt es Lebensmittelpakete, die über staatliche Strukturen verteilt werden. Über 60 Prozent der Bevölkerung werden so versorgt (Nach unabhängigen venezolanischen Zahlen stieg der Anteil von 69,2 Prozent der Haushalte 2017 auf 87,9 Prozent 2018. Anmerkung der Redaktion). Dazu kommt der Unterschied zwischen Stadt und Land. Auf dem Land kann die Eigenproduktion die Versorgung besser sicherstellen als in den Städten. Insgesamt aber erfordert die Organisation des Alltags einiges an Phantasie, weil zum Beispiel Babynahrung, Windeln und bestimmte Lebensmittel nur auf dem Schwarzmarkt oder selten erhältlich sind.

Der Putschversuch gegen den amtieren­den Präsidenten Nicolás Maduro scheint ins Stocken geraten. Ein falscher Ein­druck?

DARIO AZZELLINI: Der Putschversuch ist völlig gescheitert. Es gab weder die viel­leicht erhofften, massenhaften Desertionen aus dem Militär, noch gab es einen erhoff­ten Volksaufstand. Von »der« rechten Opposition zu reden, ist jedoch falsch, da die Opposition selber gespalten ist. Juan Guiado hat nicht einmal die Unterstützung des maßgeblichen Teils des Oppositionsla­gers, sondern wird auch hier scharf kriti­siert. Aus diesen Gründen setzt Guiado nun vollständig auf internationale Unterstüt­zung. Militärisch setzt er auf die Provoka­tion durch die USA, politisch setzt er auf die EU. Die EU macht sich zum willfährigen Helfer dieses Regierungssturzes. Und das gegen das geltende Völkerrecht, gegen fast alle internationalen Institutionen und gegen geltende diplomatische Praxis.

Dario Azzellini: „Putschversuch in Venezuela… und wie weiter?“ / Luxemburg Gesellschaftanalyse und Linke Praxis, Januar 2019

"In Venezuela ist ein von den USA unterstützter Putschversuch im vollen Gange. Am 23. Januar ernannte sich der bis dato weitgehend unbekannte Oppositionspolitiker Juan Guaidó und erst seit dem 5. Januar 2019 Vorsitzender der Nationalversammlung selbst zum Präsidenten Venezuelas. Dabei wurde er offenbar von der US-Regierung ermuntert. Der Putsch wurde in Geheimgesprächen in Anwesenheit Gesandter der kolumbianischen Regierung in den USA vorbereitet. Auf die Selbsternennung Guaidós erfolgte die sofortige Anerkennung durch die US- und die kanadische Regierung. Auch die radikale rechten Regierungen in Brasilien und Kolumbien, sowie die rechte Regierung in Argentinien schlossen sich dem an. Diverse EU-Regierungen, darunter auch Deutschland, Frankreich und Spanien haben Guaidó Unterstützung zugesagt und der Regierung von Maduro ein Ultimatum gestellt innerhalb von acht Tagen Neuwahlen auszurufen."

La révolution bolivarienne peut-elle survivre à la crise au Venezuela? / Venesol - Plateforme de solidarité avec le peuple de la Révolution Bolivarienne au Venezuela, 23 avril 2019

Une des réalisations les plus importantes du gouvernement chaviste du Venezuela a peut-être été de créer un espace dans lequel la Révolution Bolivarienne a pu s’épanouir. Mais cette révolution peut-elle survivre à la crise actuelle?

Dario Azzellini: Si en disant “révolution bolivarienne” nous parlons du gouvernement vénézuélien, la réponse n’est pas simple. Nous pouvons affirmer que celui-ci à survécu à la crise politique et économique mieux et plus longtemps que ne l’avaient espéré tous ses ennemis. Outre la chute des prix pétroliers et les propres erreurs du gouvernement, une autre cause de la crise actuelle est la pression internationale sur le Venezuela, qui va de boycotts économiques, de sanctions financières et d’une confiscation illégale de milliards de dollars en dépôt dans des banques internationales, jusqu’à des actes de sabotage perpétrés par des mercenaires et des cellules terroristes.

La perspectiva general es verdaderamente rigurosa, lo que no quita muchos comentarios críticos con las experiencias, los Estados y los actores que intervinieron en los procesos históricos que se analizan.

„The class strikes back: Self-Organized Workers’ Struggles in the Twenty-First Century“ (Book Review). Journal of Labor and Society, November 15, 2018 / Robert Ovetz

The path through decades of working class defeat is much discussed but little studied. Azzellini and Kraft's book The Class Strikes Back seeks to change that by helping to fill one of the most glaring holes in class analysis today. It offers a compilation of detailed analyses of workers organizing to shift the balance of power between capital and workers, or what is otherwise known as class composition, from 13 countries and nearly every continent. Everyone involved in and studying working class self-organizing needs to not only read this book but use it as a model for continuing this long overdue work.

Venezuela: Politics on the Ground and Uncertain Futures
with Naomi Schiller, Dario Azzellini, Tim Gill and Andreina Torres

After the election of Hugo Chavez as president of Venezuela in 1998, the process now known as the “Bolivarian Revolution,” opened up spaces for experimentation with diverse forms of democratic participation. These experiments, which include community based media, housing activism and the communes, have different trajectories, and even more diverse and unstable outcomes. From its inception, the Chavez administration also faced a great deal of backlash from local opposition groups with their own forms of political participation and significant international support, mainly from the U.S.  In the midst of Venezuela’s current “unraveling,” join us for a conversation about the “undercurrents” of the “Bolivarian Revolution,” and the often invisible realm of politics that transcends the national level, involving globally infused everyday forms of organizing at the local level and the imagination and re-imagination of political futures.

Organised by Peter North and the Power, Space and Cultural Change Research Cluster, Department of Geography and Planning, University of Liverpool

This event will bring into discussion a number of new radical, new left or ‘municipalist’ conceptions of the city developed by a new generation of urban activists. These urban activists are exploring an emerging urban politics focussing on widening and deepening local democracy and grassroots politics; social, solidarity and diverse economies (Utting 2015; North and Cato 2017; Murtagh 2019); new localisms (for example, community wealth building focused on anchor institutions, such as the ‘Cleveland’ or ‘Preston Models’); and the Foundational Economy - developing employment and business opportunities supplying things we need and which need to be produced everyday (Foundational Economy Collective 2018).
