Buenos días!
El desastre que dejó el Tsunami en Japón es espantoso. Más espantoso aún el desastre de responsabilidad humana que le sigue: La explosión de varios reactores nucleares. La humanidad en el camino de la autodestrucción. Es muy oportuno que Chávez en Venezeula haya anunciado de congelar todos los programas respecto a la posibilidad de construir centrales nucleares en Venezuela. Si queremos que este mundo nos dure un poco más, no hay otra que las energías alernativas, renovables, ecológicas.

A finales de febrero me gradué de doctor en sociología en la BUAP en Puebla/México. Desde aquí otra vez mis gracias a John Holloway y todo el equipo de la "casa amarilla".

El libro sobre control obrero: "OURS TO MASTER AND CONTROL. Workers Councils from the Commune to the Present", que compilé junto a Immanuel Ness sale en abril con Haymarket Books (EEUU).
La versión en castellano será publicada a finales de 2011 en Argentina por Herramienta (que tambíen asumió las traducciones y la edición) y en Venezuela por El Perro y la Rana.

• The International Civil Observation of Human Rights in Latin America and its Social Dimension
In line with the subject of solidarity, the phenomena of international civil observation of human rights is a very important instrument for the protection of human rights by concerned people. At the symposia we want to discover what alternative developed through the international civil observation of human rights as the antidote to executive power of security politics, the growth of violence and drug wars and as a substitution for the limits of state, national, and international human rights organizations. In this context we want to occupy with the impunity of human rights violations and the criminalization of social protests. Also important is the theme of the relation between violation of human rights and land grabbing processes. Last, we want to analyze the correlation between protection of human rights and social emancipation in conflict regions in Latin America, like Mexico and Colombia.

• Venezuela and the Chavez Government: Advances and Shortcomings
Venezuela is going through a crucial period right now because it is emerging from a two-year recession and President Chavez and his allies have won only narrow electoral victories since the loss of a 2007 constitutional reform referendum. In addition, after 12 years in power there is a certain erosion of enthusiasm among rank and file Chavistas. Chavez is up for reelection in 2012, which will be one of his most critical contests yet. The speakers on this panel will explore what is currently going on in Venezuela, in terms of the advances and the shortcomings of the Chavez government and they will thereby try to make sense of where Venezuela has been and where it is heading.

La Revolución como proceso: La confluencia de los enfoques “desde arriba” y “desde abajo”
Con la llegada del Comandante Hugo Chavez Frías a la presidencia de la República a comienzos de 1999, se inicia en Venezuela un proceso de profundo cambio social. Esta evolucion ha sido liderada por una izquierda amplia que va desde lo institucional y gubernamental hasta las diferentes corrientes de la izquierda revolucionaria y movimientos populares.
El “Two Track approach”, que combina los enfoques “desde arriba” y “desde abajo”, ha sido un factor determinante en diversos contextos de transformación social en América latina y podría ser considerado como la base del socialismo del siglo XXI.
Dario Azzellini hablará del proceso de transformación venezolano y de los problemas y contradicciones en las prácticas de dicha transformación.
¿Cómo es la relación entre las instituciones y el nuevo poder construído desde la base?
Durante esta ponencia el profesor Azzellini reflexionará sobre los Consejos Comunales, una estructura paralela no representativa de base establecida fuera del marco institucional existente (el poder constituído) y sus esfuerzos para la democratización del trabajo; y en cómo operan los modelos de co-gerencia y control de los trabajadores.

10 Jahre nach Genua. Wo stehen die sozialen Bewegungen in Italien?

Bei der Vorbereitung zum Protest gegen den G8-Gipfel in Genua hatte sich unter dem Dach der „Globalisierungskritik“ ein breites Bündnis verschiedenster Bewegungen formiert. Doch zehn Jahre danach scheint es in Italien zumindest keinen solchen hegemonialen Orientierungsrahmen, keine einheitliche „Bewegung der Bewegungen“ mehr zu geben. Ist damit das Potential der italienischen Protestbewegungen verpufft? Wir haben über die Entwicklung von 2001 bis heute mit Dario Azzellini gesprochen. Er ist Politologe und Soziologe an der Uni Linz und Herausgeber des Bandes „Genua“. Genua im Sinne der G8-Proteste: Hatte diese inspirierende wie traumatische Erfahrung auch eine verbindende Wirkung auf soziale Bewegungen? Abmod: Eine andere Regierung macht auch noch keinen (arabischen) Frühling. Dario Azzellini zur Kritik der globaliserungskritischen Bewegung und zur Dezentralisierung des Protests in Italien.
