Su ultima película Comuna Under Contruccion se enfoca en los gobiernos locales autónomos en Venezuela, y su último libro, junto con Immanuel Ness, Ours to Master and to Own: Workers’ Control from the Commune to the Present, es sobre control obrero. Dario es profesor en el Instituto de Sociología de la Universidad Johannes Kepler en Austria.

Seit Jahren steigt das Unbehagen an der real existierenden Demokratie. Sie wird zwar ideologisch und kriegerisch rund um den Globus exportiert, beschränkt sich aber in den Kernländern auf die turnusmäßige Wahlentscheidung zwischen Parteien, die sich zum Verwechseln ähneln.

Colin Crouch (Postdemokratie, Frankfurt, 2008) hat für diesen Befund den Begriff ‚Postdemokratie‘ geschaffen: Demokratie heute sei nur noch eine Hülle dessen, was Demokratie einst ausgemacht hat. Laut Crouch dominieren Experten und Pressure Groups die politischen Prozesse und demokratischen Institutionen. Das lasse sich in den Feldern Politik, Wissenschaft und Medien auf vielfältige Weise zeigen. Das Ergebnis sei immer das Gleiche: Über allem stehe die Macht der Wirtschaftseliten.

Die Tagung will den Befund einer Postdemokratie nach Crouch bzw. der Degeneration der Demokratie nach Judt kritisch hinterfragen.
